Team Mississauga Brings Home Championship and Silver

Team Mississauga Brings Home Championship and Silver

February 27 – 29, 2016 Team Flight travelled to Timmins for the Aboriginal Sports Circle Basketball Invitational Tournament. Mississauga was represented by: Diandra & Sarah McGregor and Caitlin Chiblow. Team Flight was undefeated for the tournament and played Treaty #3 in the championship game. Team Flight also took Silver at the 2015 Invitational which took place in Rama. Team Flight is registered to attend an international youth basketball tournament in Hawaii December 2016. These girls will also be attending tryouts for the North American Indigenous Games taking place in Toronto 2017

April 1 – 3, 2016 Team Mississauga travelled to OujeBougoumou in Northern Quebec. Team Mississauga was represented by: Diandra & Sarah McGreogr, Ricki-Lea Ferrigan, Caitlin Chiblow, Sydney Chiblow (from Serpent River Guin Nebionquit, Lexus Southwind & Nyah) They played their 1st game Friday night with a win against the home community team. They continued to go undefeated for the remainder of the tournament and brought home the Championship with a close game against Waswanipi. MVP & Top Scorer of the Girls Division went to Diandra McGregor and Best Defence went to Ricki-Lea Ferrigan. A Big Meegwetch to Peyton Pitawanakwat & Dillion Ominika for their stepping up to volunteer as drivers and coaching.
